Wyndham Reef Resort Grand Cayman

“Clean, Peaceful, Remote”

We just got back yesterday from our 25 year anniversary trip and it was so lovely! Our first time to this lovely island so full of history, natural beauty, underwater magic, and sights to see. The Wyndham staff really bend over backwards to help you out and do all they can for you. The other guests (and owners, as they call those who have time share rooms) were all such good people and friendly, that in five days’ time we felt like we were leaving friends behind. The locals are sweet and the island is very safe. Our room was a second floor studio with a view and it was a nice size, clean, with Jacuzzi (although we didn’t use it due to the wonderful hot tub on the beach), but it was a perfect room for us. We enjoyed our rental car because it enabled us to go exploring the island, eating here and there, and visit bustling Georgetown and Seven Mile Beach, but return to our peaceful retreat afterwards. The property is well kept and clean with a bar that gets hopping at night with karaoke and other activities. We just happened to arrive during lobster season and this was a thrill for my husband, and for me, too, as I got to enjoy his catches on two different days — two lobster dinners which we grilled on the hotel’s outdoor grills. There is a very small grocery store across the street which we used to buy fruit and vegetables and milk and such, to store in the mini fridge in the room. We LOVED feeding the frigate birds on the dock daily at 5 pm… they are incredible animals. But the highlight of the whole trip was CAPTAIN CHRIS who drives the White Sands Sports boat to Stingray City and shows you how to feed, hold (yes, I said hold), kiss, and swim with these spectacular animals… We LOVED it, and him! We recommend going on the early trip to avoid the cruise ship crowd — there were only 2 boats and 13 people there when we went. We will never forget interacting with the rays! Bring your underwater camera because the snorkeling afterwards on the reef is scenic and breathtaking — gosh, we got some great shots! We got that excursion for free in exchange for attending their time share presentation, which was actually interesting, although we did not purchase. The water at the hotel is very clean and the pier is full of fish you can swim with underneath it, but there is a constant pull in the water northward which kind of keeps you sort of fighting it when you are snorkeling; the stingray excursion was a nice break from that if you like snorkeling because there was zero current on the north of the island. There is a constant warm wind, also, on the beach, which keeps you cool for sunbathing, which does not exist on the west end of the island. But we prefer the peacefulness of the east side and the remoteness of this resort location….if you need more of a commercial experience for your vacation, stay on the west side. But on the east end in this resort, we were very, very pleased! We wished that breakfast were included, though, with the room, which is our single suggestion for improvement.

“Best Vacation and Very Relaxing”

Our check in was quick and easy. We were greeted with a rum punch. Then we meet with concierge Elizabeth who was very friendly and informative. I was asked about making an appointment for a timeshare which I declined and was never asked again. We rented a car at the airport. Which once we checked in at the resort you could have rented a car at a cheaper price if you went to hear about the timeshare. However, it would have cost about $90.00 per person to have taken a cab. It was much cheaper by renting a car at the airport. Our room was very spacious and clean. We had a balcony over looking the pools and the ocean. Great balmy breezes would great you every day. On day two we got to see a water spout come across the ocean which was amazing to see. Our wait staff was the best. Ronald (Capt. Ron) was great he kept up with every need we had. Also Odette was our morning waitress she was always cheerful every morning and was also very attentive. Not to say that we are not needy people but they both always paid attention to their tables. Some of the beach chairs needed to be replaced as they were either ripped or close to being ripped which should be replaced. We went to Stingray City to swim with the stingrays which was unbelievable. We went out for the 7 am swim. We went with White sands and had Capt. Chris take us out who was very informative and very friendly. We also went to the Pedro St. James Castle which was just beautiful.

“love this place!”

If you want to relax this is a great place. If you want to go tour the island, be prepared for a drive. It is on the other side of the island. Water is not as pretty as Seven Mile, but overall it is great!

“wild & remote”

My family and I have been coming to the Reef since 2001. Grand Cayman Island is a marvelous paradise and the Reef embodies all that is special about the Caymans. The attractions to the Reef are the warm, welcoming staff; 1500 feet of sandy beaches, clean, comfortable apartments, self-contained everything one would want, 40 minute drive away from the faster…

“If you like beautiful views & quiet, this is the place”

Having been to Grand Cayman numerous times but never staying on the east end, the Wyndam was a pleasant surprise! Our ground floor room was neat, clean and just steps from the beach and water. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The east end is a bit of a drive, but if you are looking for quiet and secluded beaches this area is for you.

“Paradise!!”

We just visited The Wyndham Reef Resort in Grand Caymans! Our first impression was fantastic as we were met by Elizabeth our concierge. She was so pleasant and helpful throughout our entire visit. The entire staff was so ready to help out if we had questions or issues. It is absolutely gorgeous there and the rooms….the bed and pillows are like marshmallows. So comfortable. Every morning we got to watch the sunrise from our patio. It could not have been any better. We will definitely go back next year!!! LOVE IT!
